Ahihi Bay Snorkeling

Beginner snorkeling at Ahihi Bay

August 112017

Kanahena Cove at Ahihi Bay is one of our favorite places to take people on their first Maui snorkeling adventure. It’s great for beginners because you can see a wide variety of fish in less than five feet of water. It’s also fairly protected from the wind so it’s rarely choppy. It’s best to go when you’ll have the sun overhead to light the water.

We park in the paved parking area for the main snorkeling area just around the corner, then walk back on the gravel path. If you have a lot of people and stuff, you might want to drop them off at the cove before parking, but it’s always a nice day for a walk on Maui.
